Find your Study Buddy

It can be hard to meet people in class. It’s often tempting to just sit in the back and never talk to anyone, but that won’t help you in the long run. Not if you ever get sick, accidentally miss a class, or loose your notebook. Then you’ll need to know at least one person in the class, and it better be somebody you can trust to take accurate and detailed notes.

So how do you find the perfect study buddy? How do you know if someone is reliable enough to help you out? Here are a few ways to get you started.

Move Around the Room

Smarter more dedicated students always sit in the front row, right? Uh, no. Definitely not true. You’re ideal study buddy could be sitting anywhere in the room; she’s going to sit where she is comfortable. So, sit in a different seat every day, and talk to everyone in the class.

Get Plenty of Options

Don’t limit yourself to just one study buddy. Get the email addresses or phone numbers of at least two students in your class, and make plans to study with both of them. Only time and a few test trials will tell you if someone really is a good study buddy. So, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Study with everyone if you can.

Start A Study Group

If it’s possible for you to study with everyone do that. Meet up with a large group of people once a week and take advantage of everyone’s notes and varying perspectives on the subject matter. Studying with everyone will help you find the study buddy with the best potential.

Remember Notes Aren’t Everything

Although it might be tempting to study with the person who has the most detailed and thorough notes, try to remember that note taking isn’t the only thing that matters. You want to study with someone who understands the material and can keep up with you as you study. You probably don’t want to study with someone who writes down every single word because they don’t have the slightest clue what the professor is talking about.
