Neat and Tidy

There’s a difference between clean and organzied. A room can be neat but still be full of dustbunnies, and the same room can be clean but stll be an organizational disaster. Keeping your dorm both neat and clean is the challenge, which can be especially difficult when your living with another messy person.
However, it definitely can be done. You just need a little determination.

1- Give Everything a Place

The key to an organized room is knowing where everything belongs. You need to have a designated place for all of your belongings, from your dirty socks to your spare pencil. You also need to make a focused effort to put everything in it’s designated place.

2- Use Plenty of Shelves and Hooks

The hardest thing to keep organized in a dorm is probably your clothes. Most dorms have very limited closet or wardrobe space, and it can be very difficult to squeeze everything in. That’s why it’s important to have lots of hanging shelves and hooks. They’ll help you take advantage of every inch of space you have.

3- Now is Better than Later

When you were little your parents probably promised to do many things later, but never did. Don’t lie to yourself. Instead of dropping your stuff on your desk chair or stuffing your sweater on a shelf put it away now. It will only take a second, and then you definitely won’t have to do it later.

4- Make use of your Storage Space

You have to fit all of your stuff in your one small dorm room, so don’t waste even an inch of space. Under-the-bed storage bins will give you plenty of extra place to store out of season clothes and belonging that you don’t use frequently. Brightly color storage bins might fit perfectly on top of your wardrobe or desk, and they’ll give you an extra place to put the things that just don’t have a home.
