The Automated Dorm Room

It’s natural to try to create a unique and comfortable living space in your dorm. After all a room with sterile floors, whitewashed walls, and florescent lighting isn’t exactly the most relaxing or beautiful place to spend your college years.

According to PSFK, one UC Berkeley freshmen, Derek Low, took it a little further than decorative photos and fashionable bedding. Low invented the “Berkeley Ridiculously Automated Dorm,” referred to as the “B.R.A.D.”

The room is completely automated and it features mechanical curtains, motion detection sensors and automated lighting. Each feature can be controlled wirelessly using voice commands or an iphone app.
