The Off Campus Apartment Nightmare

OffCamapushousing

You know the saying not to judge a book by its cover? Well as hard as I try not to do that, I usually do. I almost always pick the book with the cover that looks the brightest or the most intriguing. So, I’m not exactly sure how I wound up living in the first floor apartment on Hamilton. The outside of the house looked to be on the verge of collapse - there was a vacant lot next door full of dead trees and discarded trash, several bricks were missing from the front steps, and there was a … [Read more...]

Be the Studious Student

Studying

I never really learned how to study in high school. Most of the time all I needed to do was a cursory review of my textbook and notes and I was ready for every exam. It was a difficult transition to adjust … [Read more...]

No matter how often you assure yourself that you’ll have plenty of time to have fun later, it’s hard to focus on the things you have to do. But you have to do it. So … [Read more...]

Whose Phone is Ringing Now?

Using cell in class

A ringing cell phone during class is like the girl who talks at the movie theater, it’s disruptive and irritating. It’s impossible to concentrate on formulas and definitions when Kings of Leon is blaring in the background. For a few minutes the entire class must be halted while the phone is silenced, and then sometimes it takes a few more minutes to get back into the rhythm of the lecture. Professors certainly don’t appreciate the interruption. They know they’re fighting a losing … [Read more...]
