Biggest Exam of Your Life? Here’s How to Prepare

Exam

Spring Break is so close you can practically taste it (if you're not on it already). With that taste of freedom also comes Midterms. And - let's be honest, every exam feels like the biggest exam of your life. Why? Because they're all equally as stressful to study for. Regardless of the topic or how well you know the material, there's always fear of the unknown: what if you get random test anxiety and blank out during the test? What if your pencil breaks and there isn't a sharpener in sight? What … [Read more...]

Nothing ever seems to work out right when you’re planning your schedule. Times and locations conflict, the computer system glitches, or you don’t have the prerequisites you need for each class. The Class the No One Wanted to Take

College classroom

The class that no one wanted to take Everyone started complaining before we entered the classroom. Under no circumstances were we going to gain anything useful from this class. It was a waste of our time, our money, and our brainpower. We couldn’t understand why we were required to take it. Our teacher was clearly familiar with our disconcerted attitude. He expected that outlook from each and every one of us, and he wasn’t worried about it. He seemed to have a handle on why we didn’t … [Read more...]

Time is Flying…Wait, No! It Stopped!

College Classroom

I love the realization that I only have 45 minutes of lecture left. It's like finding out that there' s free food at the required staff meetings for the student newspaper. The knowledge that I only have 45 minutes left inspires me. Suddenly, the class is the most interesting lecture I have ever attended. I become a better student, dutifully jotting down every word my professor says as if I will be graded on my ability to take good notes. I become detailed and painfully thorough, and I … [Read more...]

The Teacher’s Pet

College Professor

You’re eventually going to need a letter of recommendation; a professor who knows you well is one of the best people to ask. So Your Professor is a Little Loony

It happens to all of us. We get stuck in a class with a professor we’ve never had before. Everyone else in the room seems to know him really well. They’re practically on a first name basis with him, and he talks to them warmly, familiarly. They discuss the class expectations, and what they’ve been doing the first few days. They’ve obviously had several classes together. We sit quietly in the middle or even in the back of the classroom. We feel a little left out, but also a … [Read more...]

Hello February!

21163d3wlkpi6ng[1]

It’s finally here. The end of January, the beginning of February and the start of another semester of classes (unless you’re one of the unlucky few who was stuck with a term in January). I was always excited to get back to classes. Maybe I just wanted the opportunity to put my new resolutions into practice. The break, as relaxing as it always was, is long. My family, as much as I love them, would be getting on my nerves just about now, and I couldn’t wait to get away from my … [Read more...]
